Cooling Off The Summer Heat at Malumpati Cold Spring
Pin It Tweet
Last week, me and my friends were supposed to go to Isla Gigantes. It could have been my second time to explore the place. But because of an unforeseen event, we ended up going to Malumpati Cold Spring in Pandan, Antique. It was a sort of last-minute decision because the Isla Gigantes trip was cancelled 3-5 hours before our scheduled departure. We got frustrated because everyone was excited and very much ready for the trip. We even planned a surprise birthday party for our friend.
Because of the spoilt excitement, we decided to go to Antique instead since one of my friends said its cheaper there. And as what we always believe, unplanned trips always turn to be the most fun and memorable getaways. So all we had to do that time was show up at the van terminal at 7:30am.lol We just had a few bucks in our wallets, no plans, no reservations, and I didn't had an idea how to go there.
Malumpati Cold Spring
(I just used "Malumpati Cold Spring" in this entire post instead of "Malumpati Health Spring" because the former is more commonly used by locals. I'm not even sure which is the correct one.heheh)
We were a bit disappointed with the crowd when we arrived. All their rooms were fully booked and the cottages were occupied. The old lady told us that we could stay at the only vacant cottage at that time and just transfer at the bigger one in the evening where we could stay for the night. It was an open cottage not suitable for a sleepover but do we have any better choices left? lol

| This was the big cottage where we slept overnight. Sorry I had to blur it. lol |
Since we all felt hot and sticky that time because of the cancelled trip and the long travel, we decided to jump into the cold spring right away. True to its name, the water was indeed very cold, just perfect for the summer heat and a great place to have a beer, too!
Activities?
There's nothing much to expect here actually. All you can do here is swim, jump off their diving board (or maybe from the top of the tree), drink, take pictures, ride a "balsa", and do crazy things while enjoying the cold water.
Food
You can bring and cook your own food. But they also have an eatery where you can order your meal. You may choose from what's inside their fridge as well and they'll cook it for you.
There are also a few sari-sari stores within the area.
Electricity
They have ample supply of electricity except for the outdoor cottages. We had to use candles at night and I re-charged my phone at the sari-sari store.
Toilet & Bath
Toilet & bathrooms were clean and well-maintained. Though it was close at night.
VERDICT
The place is not ideal for long term vacation. Maybe just a night will do. Not much activities but great for friends, families, or groups to chill out especially with the very hot summer temperature today in the country. The water is clean and very cold, you'd love to stay there all day long.
If you're interested to go there but have no idea how, just stay tuned and I'll be posting a guide on how to reach the place. ;)

Life's been very busy lately and I've missed several weeks in my Wordless Wednesday series. So it has been my goal to update the blog before Wednesday ends.
Last week, me and my friend went swimming at Sheridan Boutique Resort located at Oton, Iloilo for her birthday photoshoot. The set of photos can be found at my Facebook page - Life-Trotting. I'd really appreciate it if you "like" my page.heheh
Disclamer: It was a non-pro photoshoot just for fun. ^^
So for this week's (not-so) Wordless Wednesday, here are some photos of the beautiful luxury resort:

Cadimahan River Tour, Roxas City Capiz
Pin It Tweet
I've been to a number of destinations here in the Philippines but I admit, it's been more than a decade since I've explored my home town, Roxas City. I am now based in Iloilo City but I still get to visit home every month. I don't go out that often though. So when my friends planned for a lunch at Cadimahan River Tour, I didn't let the chance pass.
The River Tour
Cadimahan River Tour is the actual name of the place located at Sitio Lawis, Baybay, Roxas City. The word, "tour", sounds weird for a restaurant name. But part of the services that it offers is a river tour which is probably how it got its name. The river tour can be done by riding a motorized boat, paddled boat, or the floating restaurant.
The Floating Restaurant
The concept is quite similar in Bohol's Floating Restaurants at Loboc River. But instead of paying a per-person rate for the river tour and buffet meal, you have to rent the whole cottage for PhP1500 per 2 hours. Meals are not included on that rate. So I guess this is only ideal for groups or maybe for the "rich". lol
FOOD
Fish at Cadimahan River Tour are guaranteed fresh before being cooked in any way you want. Their foods are deliciously prepared and priced reasonably. Aside from fish, they also have oyster, chicken, and pork barbecue on their menu.
Service Crew
The crew are friendly and very considerate. They will help you with your needs to make your stay very satisfying.Transportation
There is no public vehicle that goes inside Cadimahan River Tour. If you don't have your own vehicle, you will have to walk from the main road which is really far. You might as well pre-arrange your trip with the tricycle driver. Ask him if he will drop you off inside Cadimahan River Tour and fetch you again at a specific time. Make sure that you agree on the fare too.
Other Services
Aside from the river tour, you may also avail these other services:
- Foot Spa
- Manicure
- Pedicure
- T. Filipino Body Massage
- Community Participation
- Resource Interpretation Lecture
VERDICT
The place is very relaxing and has a scenic view of the river - perfect for nature lovers. After enjoying a sumptuous lunch, you'd feel like sleeping because of the serene water and the fresh air. Though it could also be a great time for some boating activity depending on the level of the heat of the sun. With the food being delicious and not so expensive, Cadimahan River Tour is a great place to hangout if you want to escape from the busy city life.

Sagada Cave Connection: Lumiang and Sumaguing Caves
Pin It Tweet
One of the highlights to most Sagada trips I've read online is the exploration of Lumiang and Sumaguing Cave Connection. It is one activity in Sagada that no one should ever miss. Some say that it is very difficult and that your body will feel sore the day after. At first, I was hesitant to try because caving doesn't really excite me that much. But since we were already there (in Sagada) and we found company, I cannot seem to ignore the opportunity.
Actually, the caving activity can be done in one cave only. But our tour guides suggested that it's better we do both. So we agreed. We entered in Lumiang Cave and exited in Sumaguing Cave, as suggested by our tour guides again. Most guests do the opposite. It seemed that ours was a better option indeed because interesting rock formations are found at Sumaguing Cave. Feels like a good finale for the whole adventure. :D
From what we've heard, Cave Connection can be finished in just 3-4 hours. But we ended up doing it in 5 hours!lol We weren't aware on how long we've been inside the cave. Of course, we were busy trying not to slip or fall... Plus, our tour guide enjoyed taking our pictures. So we were just in a position to strike a pose whenever he asked us to. heheh

| The JUMP SHOT |
Spelunking at Lumiang and Sumaguing Caves is more than just sight-seeing. It's all about adventure and amazement. It felt unbelievable to see how deep and huge the cave is when all you can see outside is just a small mountain or hill. The water in some areas is also very clear though it just doesn't smell that good (because of the bats).lol It seemed like we were in a different world when inside the cave.
As I've said, the activity is more of an adventure. We had to rapel, slide, climb, and even step on our tour guide's shoulders just to go down some rocks.
This activity may be fun but it can be risky too. You really need to be extra careful, obey your tour guides, trust them, and don't forget to ask guidance from the Lord. Here's a good and useful advice that my group can give:
